In recent years, we have become increasingly aware of the additional challenges and turmoil created by menopause for autistic women. For example, many women experience autistic burnout during peri-menopause and menopause. In this course, we describe the challenges and risks of menopause for autistic women, how to prepare for and navigate these whether you are an autistic woman yourself, or a family member or health professional supporting autistic women.
To understand the additional risks and challenges, for example, autistic burnout, faced by autistic women as they approach and experience menopause
To know how menopause affects the brain, mind and body and why it needs to be taken seriously
To understand how autistic women can meaningfully cope with menopause across the areas that are most significantly affected - their emotions, cognitive processes, communication and relationships, and sensory experiences
To share ways professionals can support autistic women as they approach and experience menopause
