Researchers and clinicians have only recently started to explore how autism is experienced and expressed in mature adults. Our clinical experience of supporting autistic individuals over several decades has provided an opportunity for valuable longitudinal information. Research studies using extensive interviews with aging autistic individuals have provided new perspectives that are important for autistic individuals, their families and support services.
